Hypnotist (H)
Here we have a entertainer in the feild, he may give a few suggestions on weight or even smoking but he's not in the buisness of therapy he is a entertainer, and thats what he does.
Hypnologist (DH)
This is a old term for a individual that got his education prior to 1971, this was prior to a Hypnotherapist, and had a differnet approach to doing programs. The person could be a doctor of the subject, there were a few schools back in the 1970's that gave a diploma after you took alot of coures, however they should not be confused with the 6 year course of study that the modern doctor of Clincal Hypnotherapy goes through, as most were under a year. The Hypnologist course is no longer taught anywhere in the US.
Hypnotherapsit (Ht) or Certified Hypnotherapist (cH)
This is a individual who has had some training and can do some weight and smoke programs and maybe some issues related to stress. However they do not have the training to do in depth analisis and application of it like a Clinical Hypnotherapist.
Clinical Hypnotheripist (CH) or Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (CCH)
This person has had some schooling in a classroom and may be certified by one or more of the orginazations that check to see what what the person has done to be called "Clinical Hypnotherapist or a Certified Clincal Hypnotherapist' The time is usally 6 months to 2 years and interning under a experienced therapist, some states license, but all hypnosis is under federal guidelines. The person may be training to be a Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy or may be.
Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy (DCH)
This person has spent 6 years or longer in a school. The training is instense, he has taken most of the training of a medical doctor but cannot prescribe drugs or offer medical advice (some states allow limted medical advice for common aliments). He has training in nutrition, herbs, pharmacology, chemistry, biolgy, physiology, sociolgy, (no not physcology because thats a entire different science), there is speech traing etc.He may have taken more courses as the 5 schools in the US, have differnet standards and there is not one "standard" for this degree.
Doctor of Clinical Hypnotherapy / Hypnoanethiesa (DCH.HA)
The title following the hypnotherapy is what he specailizes in just like Medical doctors specailize in certain areas so do hypnoptherapists, some do hypnobirthing, Herbology etc.
Hypnotherapy assistant (HA)
This is a person who is trained in to assist the Hypnotherapist in his practice, they may do reception work, fill out forms, set up the therapy room etc.
